This English-language hardcover book contains everything needed to lead the Leagues of Votann into battle. The Codex includes all rules, datasheets, detachments, and Combat Patrol rules. It also features extensive lore, illustrations, color schemes, and a gallery of painted Citadel miniatures.
Background:
The Leagues of Votann, often called Squats by outsiders, consist of independent Kin realms within the massive gravitational field of the galactic core. In vast mining fleets, they extract rare ores and helio-plasma, defend their asteroid homes against core-dwelling beasts, and trade with distant star realms when safe routes beckon. At the heart of every community is a Votann, a planet-sized data-store that preserves the memories and wisdom of their ancestors. The Hearthspake, the council of a Kindred, consults this datacore and then makes decisions based on its calculations.
Society rests on four pillars. Kindred stands for family and military. Votann stands for faith. Guild stands for trade and technology. Oath stands for law and mutual obligations. Politically, five major Leagues shape the image. The Greater Thurian League is considered diplomatic and prosperous. The Kronus Hegemony is warlike. The Ymyr Conglomerate is heavily armed. The Urani Surtr Regulates are considered stoic. The Trans-Hyperian Alliance is famous for its long-range fleets. All follow the Code of the Stone, which sets every given word as a lasting commitment.
On the battlefield, Oathbands deploy resilient Hearthkyn infantry, agile Sagitaur squadrons, and mighty Hekaton Land Fortresses. Newer doctrines incorporate Ironkyn Automata and Grav-vehicles to react flexibly to Tyranid swarms or Aeldari Corsairs. The current Codex even refines the venerable Grudge System into a complex conflict analysis, demonstrating that the Kin only preserve tradition by continuously evolving it.
