This set contains all the necessary parts to build a Mechanicum Combat Force for Warhammer The Horus Heresy, as well as suitable bases.
The Combat Force includes the following units:
- 6x Thallax Cyborg
- 2x Castellax Battle-Automata
- 1x Thanatar-Cavas Siege-Automaton
- 2x Transfer Sheets for Mechanicum Macro-Constructs, each with 394 transfers
- 2x Transfer Sheets for Mechanicum Constructs, each with 558 transfers
The models are made of plastic, unpainted, and require assembly.
Background:
The Mechanicum arose on Mars long before its reunification with Terra. In the dusty wastes of the Red Planet, Tech-Priests, Fabricator-Lords, and Skitarii Legions merged into a dogmatic cult that worshipped the Machine God as the source of all knowledge. Clad in rust-red robes, they walk through metropolises of gears and luminescent glyphs, replacing limbs with piston-arms and speaking in binary Cant Mechanicus. Those who misrecite the litanies of the Omnissiah disturb the sacred gears and are led by servitors into smelting cages. Every thought, every prayer, and every invention serves one purpose: the hunt for lost technology, which they refer to as STC patterns and guard with fanatic zeal.
When the Emperor landed on Mars during the Age of Strife, the Magi saw in him the incarnate embodiment of their Machine God. The Treaty of Olympus united Terra and Mars in an alliance of steel and faith. From then on, endless ships flowed out from the holy forge, laden with bolters, armor, and Titan Legions, while the Legiones Astartes defended them in distant star systems. But even this pact broke during the Horus Heresy. Some Forge Worlds followed Horus, transforming their faith into dark Warp worship, while others remained loyal to Terra. After the Siege of Terra, the Emperor elevated the Mechanicum to the Adeptus Mechanicus and incorporated it into his administration, without infringing on its far-reaching autonomy.
Today, the Cult Mechanicus controls a network of Forge Worlds, Magos conclaves, and Titan Legions. Its priests feed the endless factory tithes of the Imperium, simultaneously battling technological heresies and listening to the metallic whispers of the machine spirit hidden within every gear. The religion of the Mechanicum is also its driving force: those who honor the Omnissiah seek the perfection of the machine, and no sacrifice of flesh or spirit is too great to approach this goal.
