Contents:
This set contains all the necessary parts to build 2 Rapier Batteries with 4 Legiones Astartes Gunners for The Horus Heresy, as well as suitable bases.
The following is included in the box:
- 2x Rapiers (can be built as either a Quad Heavy Bolter or a Graviton Cannon)
- 4x Gunners
- 1x Transfer sheet with 293 transfers
The models are made of plastic, are unpainted and need to be assembled.
Background:
Rapier weapon carriers are armored servo-platforms equipped with heavy guns and operated by a crew. They were designed by the Mechanicum to provide firepower in confined spaces – especially in difficult terrain, trench systems, or under sustained enemy fire. The platform itself moves on robust tracks, is equipped with massive frontal armor, and serves as a mobile bulwark for heavy weapons that would otherwise be used statically.
In a Legion, a Rapier squad often accompanies advancing infantry, securing choke points or breaking enemy fortifications. The weapon is centrally mounted and operated by two Legionaries: one handles aiming and fire control, the other supplies, ammunition transport, and defense. Due to its compact design, the squad can also maneuver through destroyed terrain sections and abandoned tank positions – ideal for urban battlefields or the rearguard of heavy assaults.
