This set contains all the parts required to build 3 additional weapon options for the Legiones Astartes Saturnine Dreadnought Chiron configuration for Horus Heresy. The body of the Saturnine is not included in this set.
The following weapon options are included:
- 1x Inversion Beamer
- 1x Graviton Pulveriser
- 2x heavy particle shredders (hull-mounted)
The parts are made of plastic, are unpainted, and must be assembled.
You can find a picture of the parts here.
Background:
The Saturnine Dreadnought is the most powerful walker variant the Legiones Astartes ever put into service. Its origins lie in the secret tech enclaves of the moons of Saturn; the prototype was already deployed in the final battles of the Unification Wars. Primarch Vulkan perfected the chassis during the Great Crusade and distributed it to all the Legions – a gift that would turn against both sides during the Horus Heresy.
The suit towers over even Leviathan Siege Dreadnoughts. Multi-layered adamantium and ceramite armour conceal shield generators and a thermal diffusion screen that attenuates las, plasma, melta, and flame weapons. Enlarged shoulder sections house teleport synchronisers, allowing entire squads to be redeployed in the orbital storm. Only Legionaries with extraordinary willpower – rumoured to possess latent psychic talent – can master the ancient machine spirits of the sarcophagus.
The armament is little less imposing. In the Chiron configuration, heavy plasma bombard and pairs of disintegrator cannons fire under the protection of two photonic incinerators; the Ophion variant replaces these with an inversion beamer, a graviton pulveriser, and heavy particle shredders. All variants can carry additional concussive resonators in the hull, shattering enemy lines with firepower capable of obliterating entire armoured contingents.
Saturnine Dreadnoughts were rarely built due to their immense manufacturing costs, but where they appeared, they breached fortress walls, overran Titan escort shield lines, and wrote their pilots into the legends of the 31st Millennium – living monuments to both the triumph and the betrayal of the Horus Heresy.
