This set contains all the necessary parts to build 6 Heroes of Rohan for Middle-earth, as well as suitable bases.
The following miniatures are included:
- 2x Fréaláf Hildeson (on foot and mounted)
- 2x Olwyn (on foot and mounted)
- 2x Lief (on foot and mounted)
The models are made of plastic, unpainted, and require assembly.
Background:
During the Great Winter and the siege of Helm's Deep, three figures stood out from the ranks of the Rohirrim. Fréaláf Hildeson, King Helm's nephew, fought his way through snow and famine as a young commander until, after Helm's death, he dared the final assault: with a handful of riders, he broke through the smoke-filled halls of Meduseld, slew the usurper Wulf, and liberated the heart of the Mark. Thus, Fréaláf became the first King of the Second Line and vowed that Rohan's banner would not fall even in the deepest darkness.
At his side stood Olwyn, once a shieldmaiden on the borders of the Westfold, later a confidante of Princess Héra. During the nights of the siege, she climbed the icy ramparts to tend to wounded archers and led stealthy sorties, slipping through Dunlending camps with spear and wolf-skin cloak. Her courage held the last defenders together, even when Helm's Horn had fallen silent.
The youngest of the heroes was Lief, King Helm's sixteen-year-old page. What began as service at court ended in blood and fire: Lief led encircled children into the rock chambers behind the Hornburg, rode through snowstorms and arrow hails to bring Fréaláf news of the fortress's situation, and narrowly escaped the collapsing gate. His name was later sung in songs praising the bravery of the Unsung Heroes of the Mark.
Together, Fréaláf, Olwyn, and Lief proved that heroism lies not only in royal titles or battle cries, but in the unyielding will to lead Rohan through icy darkness and bring it back into the light.
