Background:
The Astra Militarum represents the Imperium's mighty army – a mass of billions of soldiers, tanks, and artillery guns fighting in endless wars against Xenos, heretics, and daemons. Among its countless regiments, the Death Korps of Krieg stands out in particular. Shaped by a world that destroyed itself through centuries of atomic warfare, its soldiers are fanatical, silent warriors who consider death a duty and for whom no sacrifice is too great. Their trenches are deep, their cannons numerous, and their morale unshakable. The Death Korps is known for its war of attrition tactics: artillery fire softens the ground, infantry crawls through the mudfields of no man's land, and every lost position is retaken with the next wave of attack. Gas masks, heavy coats, and iron discipline make them faceless executors of the imperial will. Their merciless nature was particularly evident during the Siege of Derondii, where they surrounded a macrocity for over 10 years, bled it dry with artillery fire, and systematically reduced it to ruins. Neither surrender nor the end of all signs of life moved them to cease fire. For the Death Korps, only the end of the enemy matters, whatever the cost. Only when the burning remains of the enemy are reflected in the glass lenses of their gas masks does the Death Korps quietly withdraw.
